Jaynette Spears was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Cee Vee, Texas, to Willie and Charlie Brown. Mrs. Spears died June 29, 2012, in Denver City, Texas. Jaynette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy G. Spears; one sister, Zoe' Brittian; and one brother, C.O. Brown.
Jaynette is survived by one son, John Dale Offutt and wife Clara of Seminole; one brother, Dale Brown and wife Bonnie of Hobbs, N.M.; one grandson, John Charles Offutt of Seminole, Texas; two granddaughters, Sandra Ann Offutt of Lubbock and Laura Jane Offutt of Seminole; two granddogs, Daisy and Thumper; three stepsons, Rodney Spears of Florida, Tommy Spears and wife Jan of Seminole, and Timmy Spears of Glen Rose, Texas; four stepgrandchildren, Cody Spears of Dublin, Texas, Debra Lee South of Seminole, Texas, Christy South of Seminole, Texas, and Brittany Spears of Seminole, Texas; and two step-great-grandchildren, Tristen Miller and Jordyn Arzate of Seminole, Texas.
Jaynette and her husband Bill were married in Brownfield, Texas, 45 years ago. They farmed, growing cotton, peanuts, watermelons, wheat hay and hay grazer from 1969 until 2009 in Gaines County. Bill and Jaynette also raised cattle and horses. The Spears owned a ranch in the Guadalupe Mountains for a few years raising cattle and sheep. They also ran a feedlot at their home in Gaines County for a number of years. Before moving to Gaines County, they lived in Tahoka, Texas, where they farmed. Jaynette was a member of First Baptist Church in Seminole. Jaynette was always a character right until the end. Some lovingly called her the General because she was very good at giving orders and expecting them to be carried out to her satisfaction. She loved her family and friends and took great pleasure in cooking delicious meals for them. Friends and family were always welcome to eat at her table and never left hungry. Her chocolate pie was a family favorite. Mrs. Spears was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, coffee drinker, and a true lover of animals.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cotton and the staff at Yoakum County Hospital for the wonderful care and attention given Jaynette while she was there. We would also like to thank the nurses at Encompass Home Health, especially Frances and Sheila. Jaynette will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
