A Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 70 years, Sister Brenda died May 17, 2004 in Montebello, California. One of five girls, she was born in Waterford, Ireland September 27, 1915. She made her novitiate in Tarrytown, New York and received her BA from Marymount College. Over the years Sister Brenda endeared herself to thousands of first graders in whom she instilled a lifelong love or learning, at St. Thomas Aquinas School, New York, Marymount Junior School, and St. Alphonsus School in Los Angeles, St. Francis de Sales in Sherman Oaks, and St. Martin School in San Jose. She also served as principal of Queen of Apostles School in San Jose. Sister Brenda spent three years as Residence Hall Supervisor for Marymount College, Palos Verdes, and several years caring for her RSHM elderly sisters in Los Angeles. She brought her characteristic good humor and faith to her final ministry in The Gathering Place Thrift Shop in Lennox, California. A loving, giving, joyful, positive person, Sister Brenda will be greatly missed by her RSHM family, her sister Cecilia, her nieces and nephews, and many friends.Mass of the Resurrection took place on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred heart Chapel of Loyola Marymount University.
