Dale Herman, 41, of rural Girard, died at approximately 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, as the result of a motorcycle-vehicle accident one-fourth of a mile east of 70th Street on 590th Avenue, just west of North Radley.
He was born Oct. 26, 1959, at Woodstock, Ill., to Vernon and Catherine Burns Herman. He moved with his family to Riverside, Calif., in 1970 and attended schools there.
On June 23, 1978, he married Delores J. Napier at Miami, Okla. She survives at the home.
Mr. Herman had worked at Print Xcel, Girard, since 1977.
He was a member of Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, Girard.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Jennifer C. Herman of the home; a grandson, Seth Adam Watkins of the home; three brothers, Russell Herman of Golden, Colo., Robert Herman of Mentone, Calif., and Richard Herman of Maryland; a sister, Christine Martin of Pittsburg; and 26 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

GIRARD -- A rural Girard man died instantly in a collision between his motorcycle and a flat-bed pickup truck Thursday afternoon.
Dale Herman, 41, was killed when his 1971 Honda motorcycle collided head-on with a 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven by 21-year-old Nathan George of Girard. George was not injured in the accident.
According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:50 p.m. Thursday on 590th Avenue southeast of Girard. Herman, according to reports, crossed the center line and struck George's pickup head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
