JACKEL - Harry Jackel, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at River Garden. He was born in New York City and has resided in Jacksonville for the past 25 years. He was preceded in his death by his wife of 64 years, Harriet Jackel.

He is survived by his daughter, Lenore "Lee" Egan Urove (James) of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and his son, Richard Jackel (Francine) of Ardsley, New York.

In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Dawn Geevers (Hans), Shannon Egan (Anne), Jeffrey Jackel (Laurie), and Andrew Jackel (Deb); and one greatgranddaughter, Miranda Jackel.

He actively volunteered with River Garden Home for thirteen years. Additionally, he was a member of Beth Shalom Congregation and the Jewish Community Alliance, where he exercised twice a week until his recent illness.

A graveside service will be held at Beth Shalom Cemetery (Evergreen Gate #5, Lot7) at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10th. Rabbi Daniel Mehlman will officiate. The family requests no flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 or River Garden Library, 11401 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32258. Arrangements are by HardageGiddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue.
