Born in Holland, MO., to William "Bill" and Ollie Strode Sherwood.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran, having served in the US Army. Max owned and operated Max's Auto Sales and was former used car manager for Littrell-Ozier Ford. He was a former member of the Blytheville Jaycees and American Legion and loved working in his yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Coyi Lynn Sherwood.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Tillman Sherwood, of the home; children, Dr. Max Ann Ferguson and husband, Dr. Scott of Harrison, AR and Max T. Sherwood and wife, Ryan of Charleston, SC; brother, Chilton Strode of Kansas City, MO and grand daughters, Aiden and Parker Sherwood, of Charleston, SC.
Funeral services were in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
