Thomas Delaney was the son of the late Peter and Bridget (Hyland) Delaney. He graduated from Iona College in 1948 and was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the Navy and Merchant Marines. Throughout his career in law enforcement, he served as Captain in the New York Police Department, Commissioner of the Mt. Vernon, NY Police Department, Sheriff of Westchester County, NY and retired as Director of Federal Police, Region 2. He was a past member of the Westchester County Emerald Society. Besides Veronica, his wife of 57 years, he leaves three sons Thomas J. Delaney, Jr. of Crestwood, NY, Peter W. Delaney of Peekskill, NY and John J. Delaney of Bronxville, NY; two daughters Veronica Kearney of Bronxville, NY and Mary O'Reilly of Mt. Vernon, NY; one brother Matthew Delaney of Sun City, FL; and eight grandchildren. He is predeceased by his grandson James Kearney.
