WESTPORT RITES FOR EX-TEACHER
Ralph Armstrong, 58, Dies at IOOF Home

Ralph E Armstrong, 58, a teacher in the schools of North Dakota for a number of years, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Monday at the Indiana Odd Fellows Home. He had been a guest at the home of the fraternal order here since May 24, 1946.

Born at Sherwood, Jennings county, on Nov 5, 1891, he was the son of James and Jane Boicourt Armstrong. After attending grade school in Jennings and Decatur counties, he was graduated from Westport high school in 1912.

After attending Indiana Central College and the University of South Dakota, he taught in the school system of North Dakota for a number of years.

Later he returned to Indiana and was employed by the Fairbanks-Morse Co at Indianapolis, until the health of his father failed. At that time he returned to the farm south of Westport. He remained there following the passing of his father and until the death of his mother in 1946, after which he entered the Odd Fellows Home in Greensburg.

Mr Armstrong was a member of the Fredonia Evangelical United Brethren church, south of Westport and the Westport Odd Fellows lodge. He was never married.

The survivors are: Two sisters, Mrs Clella Davis, of Seymour, and Miss Alice Armstrong, of Toledo, Ohio, a teacher in the school system there; and a brother, Lester Armstrong, of Seymour.

Funeral rites will be held at the Hostetler funeral home at Westport at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev Kenneth Angle, of Seymour, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Westport cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
