Singer, Songwriter. Part of the Detroit group "The Gaylords," Ron had 10 top 10 records. Better known by his stage name, "Ron Gaylord," he first teamed up in 1949 with Burt Holiday, who needed someone to perform between acts during plays. Later, as The Gaylords, they teamed up to play in local nightblubs before recording their first top-10 single, "Tell Me You're Mine," in 1953, which was their first Gold Record. In 1954, they recorded chart toppers, "From the Vine Came the Grape" and "The Little Shoemaker." Its melody was used for a commercial which remains as the longest-running commercial in Detroit. Their most recent performance was four months ago at the Grosse Ile Country Club. Ron was married to Terry, and the father of Tiffany, Chris and Tony. Cause of death: Cancer.
