Elizabeth McDonald joined her husband in heaven on Oct. 15, 2011. She was born Julia Elizabeth Reed on Nov. 16, 1920 in Montague County, TX. She was the first child of Isom Francis and Elva Watson Reed. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to the West Texas community of Flomot, where she helped raise 7 siblings and worked on the farm until graduation from Flomot High School in 1939. After attending Texas Women's University in Denton she married the love of her life, James Horace McDonald in Quitaque on Feb. 22, 1941. The continued the farm life while raising their family.

She was a homemaker deluxe and centered her life around her family.

Those left to enjoy her precious memories include 3 sons and 1 daughter: Lynn McDonald and Doris of Idalou, Lee McDonald and Katie of Pampa, Lonnie McDonald and wife Roberta of Bushland, and Patsy Hilbers and husband Gerry of Idalou. 9 Grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Brothers and Sisters: Alma Monk and husband Roy, James Reed, E G Reed and wife Barb, Cecil Reed and wife Veda, Leo Reed and wife Helena, George Reed and wife Roye. And many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in July 2007, her parents, and sister Juanita Gowin.

A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Quitaque. Interment will follow in the Flomot Cemetery under the direction of Shannon Funeral Home of Matador. The family will receive friends and relatives at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday morning until service time.

Memorials are suggested to the Flomot Cemetery Association, VIstaCare Hospice of Lubbock, Texas 4-H Conference Center of Brownwood, the Garrison Center of Lubbock or your favorite Charity.
