Death Occurs Before Rescuers Can Remove Limbs From Body
Special to THE NEWS.

FAIRVIEW, Nov 12 - Tom R. Taylor, 65-year-old Major county pioneer, was killed almost instantly at his farm home three miles southwest of Fairview this afternoon when his head was crushed by branches of a falling tree. With a young nephew who has made his home with the family for several years, Mr. Taylor went to a wooded tract on his farm to fell trees. He apparently misgauged the direction of fall for the last tree and then was unable to escape the dragging branches. The horrified youngster attempted to reach his uncle only to find that the branches had pinned him to the earth. He returned to the farm house where the aid of neighbors was sought. When the men who hurried to the pioneer's assistance succeeded in removing the tree from his body they found death already had occurred. Later examination disclosed Mr. Taylor suffered a bad fracture of the skull and a broken shoulder. Mr. Taylor had been a resident of the county since its early days. He is survived by the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Mary [May] Morris, near Fairview, and a brother Charles Taylor resident in Fairview. No funeral arrangements had been made late today.
