Alfred W. Burrill Dies
Alfred W. Burrill, 72, died yesterday at 8 p.m. at Veteran’s Hospital, Des Moines, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Burrill was born Aug. 28, 1887, at Viola, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Burrill. He later married Mrs. Zella Smith on Aug. 18, 1934. He was a member of the Christian Church of Estherville, a lifetime member of the local VFW, a member of the North Star Lodge 47 AF and AM of Estherville and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen.

Survivors include his wife, Zella, two step-daughters, Mrs. Irving Lowry of Fort Riley, Kan., and Mrs. Elmer Osberg of Estherville; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Tom Landon of Ontario, Calif.

Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church in Estherville, and family services for noon Thursday, also at the Christian Church. Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of service. A memorial fund has been established. The casket will not be opened following the services. Burial will be in East Side cemetery in Estherville.
