In 1910 she and her husband and their two children lived on a farm they owned, with a mortgage, in Granby Township in the same county. He also worked as a public school teacher.

In 1920 she and Samuel and their seven children lived there.

In 1930 she and her husband and their ten children lived in a place they were renting for $30 a month in Prairie Township, Washington County, AR. They did have a radio. He worked as a postman on a U.S. Mail route, and Cleo as a laborer in a veneering plant.
