Mrs. Elizabeth Munsey Meeks, the wife of Arthur C. Meeks, senior member of M.L. Meeks and Sons, funeral directors, died at 4:45 o'clock last night at the family home, 404 East Washington street. She had been ill six weeks.
Besides the husband, she is survived by one son, David Martin Meeks of Honolulu; one daughter, Miss Frances G. Meeks; and one step-sister, Miss Dale McMahan of Gaston.
Funeral services will be conducted at the High Street Methodist Church at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning by Dr. A.W. Pugh, pastor, and burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Meeks mortuary after noon tomorrow.
Mrs. Meeks had been prominently identified in the social and civic life of Muncie during all her residence here. For many years, she served as a member of the county board of children's guardians, now known as the county board of public welfare, and received her last appointment from Judge Leonidas A. Guthrie of the Circuit Court.
She was active as a member of the Delaware County Tuberculosis Association, the Round Table Club, and the Methodist Church. She was an officer of the Y.W.C.A. for six years and always took an active part in its work. She was teacher of voice in the Muncie Conservatory of Music for a few years after graduating from Valpraiso University, and she was a past president of the Matinee Musicale.
Mrs. Meeks was a native of Gaston, being the daughter of Dr. David O. and Sarah Trout Munsey. She was married to Mr. Meeks on December 30, 1908.
