She was born in Manchester, England, the daughter of Harold and Agnes Davenport Jones, and attended school there. She later lived in Golders Green, a suburb of London, prior to coming to Muncie in 1948.
Mrs. Meeks was a member of the Church of England, the Flower Mission of High Street United Methodist Church, Round Table Club, Teapor Club of Henry County and Women's Auxiliary of Ball Hospital. She was an ardent fan of Muncie Central High School Bearcat basketball and for many years was a volunteer receptionist at Ball Hospital.
Surviving are her brother, Cyril Jones, Leeds, England; three nephews, Keith, Graham, and Malcolm Jones; a grand-niece and four grand-nephews, all of England.
Her brother, Ernest Jones, died several years ago. Her husband, who died in 1957, was a great-grandson of Robert Meeks, who with his brother Isaac, was a founder of R. Meeks and Sons, nor known as The Meeks Mortuary.
Services will be at Meeks Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday.
