Lula "Lu" M. Flack, 93, of Greeley died Friday, Dec. 31, at North Colorado Medical Center.
Mrs. Flack was born June 13, 1911, in Granger, Wash., to Alfred and Alesa (Zessin) Markley.
On June 15, 1932, she married Carroll E. Flack in Denver.
Mrs. Flack was born on a farm near Granger. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Humboldt, Kan. When she was 6, the family moved to Weldona to live on a farm.
The children drove a horse and buggy to school and graduated from Weldona High School.
Music was an important part of her life. She first substituted as her father's accompanist by chording on the piano for his fiddle playing. In high school, she played piano at the silent move theater. She attended Colorado Women's College on a scholarship and graduated with a degree in music in June 1932.
After she married, the Flacks moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where their son, Duane, was born in 1935. The Flacks moved to Greeley in 1937. Their second son, Norman, was born in 1939. In 1951, Mrs. Flack began working for the Weld County treasurer's office. She later transferred to the county clerk's office. She also served as acting clerk to the board of commissioners and retired in 1974.
Mrs. Flack enjoyed traveling to many states and Europe. She celebrated her 75th birthday with a hot air balloon ride near the Front Range. The center of her life was her family.
She was a member of First Methodist Church, the Garden City Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 3 and the Order of White Shrine No. 18.
Survivors are two sons, Duane Flack and wife Colleen of Greeley, and Norman E. Flack and wife Linda of Boulder; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Her husband is deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bonell Good Samaritan Center Chapel, 708 22nd St. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Lula is the author of the Zessin family history, Ferdinand and the Zessin Nine.
