On January 1, 1958, Detective Ronald Lasky, DSN 3351, was commissioned as a police officer. Upon graduation from the academy, he was assigned to the 7th District, 3rd District, Mobile Reserve Section, Special Operations, Robbery, and Burglary Division, Mobile Reserve Section, and the 4th District. During his career, he was awarded 3 Exceptional Performance of Duty awards on July 1, 1966, January 1, 1968, and April 1, 1970. He was also the recipient of a Chief's Letter of Commendation on January 28, 1977. All of the preceding awards were for police work above the call of duty. On November 15, 1970, Detective Lasky received the Medal of Valor. This is the highest award in law enforcement. The Medal of Valor is presented in recognition of a conspicuous act of bravery exceeding the normal demands of police service, and it expresses the community's gratitude for the sound judgment demonstrated by the officer in the performance of his duty without regard to his own personal safety. Detective Lasky retired on January 02, 1989, and had a total of 30.09 years of dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Detective Lasky was also a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He was an ADAN, which is an Aviation Machinist Mate. He achieved the rank of E-3.

Ronald Lasky died on March 9, 2010. A beloved husband of Connie (Ruhr) Lasky; adored father of Laura Voellinger, Curtis Lasky, and Teresa Insalaco; cherished grandfather of Kurtis, Cody, Nicholas, and Jacob; cherished brother, uncle, and friend.

Services: Ronald in his loving and giving way, gave his body to science. Whenever you think of me, say a silent prayer.
