Mrs. Gayle Gearner, age 62 of Winnsboro, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011. S
he was born on February 22, 1949 in Wolfe City, to the late Delbert L. and Sara Velma Holloway Duncan.
She married Dreben Samuel Gearner, Jr. on September 19, 1970, together they owned and operated Poultry Plus Hardware in Winnsboro.
Gayle was a a member of the Winnsboro Chamber of Commerce since 2000, in 2004 she was awarded Winnsboro's Woman of the Year , and Poultry Plus was business of the year in 2005. Gayle was also a WEDC board member from 2001-2010, the organizer and founder of the non-profit Chicken Run motorcycle rally, Vista supervisor at Morgans Mercy Mansion, and helped with the Winnsboro Animal Shelter since 1997.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Scooter" Duncan; sister, Carolyn Ann Duncan. She is survived by her husband, Sam Gearner of Winnsboro; son, Sammy Gearner and wife Kara of Winnsboro; daughters, Janelle Safford and husband Mark of Winnsboro, Crystal Griffin and husband Ed of Winnsboro; brother, Donald Duncan and wife Eva of Greenville; sister, Betty Lou Moon and husband Dudley of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Randi Griffin, Riley Griffin, Jalen Safford, Ryan Griffin, Bailey Safford, Garrett Gearner, Alston Griffin, Gentry Gearner, Brennon Griffin; and one great-grandchild, Griffin Warren.

WINNSBORO - Services for Gayle Gearner, 62, Winnsboro, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Beaty Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Gearner died March 10, 2011. She was born Feb. 22, 1949, in Wolfe City to Delbert L. and Sara Velma Holloway Duncan. She was co-owner/operator of Poultry Plus Hardware in Winnsboro.

Survivors include husband, Sam Gearner; son, Sammy Gearner; daughters, Janelle Safford, Crystal Griffin; brother, Donald Duncan; sister, Betty Lou Moon; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
