Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," July 29, 1930:
Spencer Benson, 74 years old, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Stella Lowe, Catherine street, Monday afternoon at 1:30. He is survived by one brother, Matt Benson; one son, F.J. Benson, both of Melcher; three sisters, Martha, Stella and Batha, all of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the Roscoe funeral home parlors, the Rev. A.D. McClure conducting the services. Burial will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.

His first wife had three children with him and passed in 1885. I haven't been able to find her burial location so I can't link her into the family.
