Vivian Mann Edwards, 75, of Middleburg, died on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Maria Parham Medical Center, in Henderson, NC.

Born March 4, 1935, in Vance County, Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late John Edward Mann Sr., and Helen Clopton Melton. Mrs. Edwards was retired, from Harriet & Henderson Yarns, Inc, after many years of service. During the time of her employment, and after, Mrs. Edwards also served for many years, as Mayor of the Town of Middleburg, where she was still currently serving as the town's Clerk. In addition, Mrs. Edwards was currently serving on the Executive Board for the Diocese of North Carolina Episcopal Church Women and on the Board of Directors for the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers, Mrs. Edwards also served her church, St Johns Episcopal, of Henderson, NC, in numerous capacities. In addition to being a faithful member for so many years, Mrs. Edwards was currently serving as the Church's treasurer, where she likewise served as a Vestry member, and a regular choir member. Mrs. Edwards was also a member of the Middleburg Garden Club, and the Vance County Genealogy Society.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Benjamin Franklin Edwards, of Middleburg; two daughters, Cheryl E. Neville and husband Nicholson G. Neville, Jr., of Henderson, NC, and Leigh Ann Edwards, of Middleburg, NC; one brother, John E. Mann, Jr. and wife Norma Mann, of Henderson, NC one half sister, Deborah Berry and husband Ben Berry, of Carrboro, NC; along with numerous loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by an infant son, Franklin Keith Edwards: a step-father, Samuel G. "Buck" Melton; a step-mother, Dorothy P. Mann.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, in Henderson, NC, and will be conducted by the Reverend Harrison Simons. Burial will follow in the Middleburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, immediately following the burial, at the Middleburg Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall, and at all other times, at the home in Middleburg, NC.

in lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, c/o Lib Holland, PO Box 974, Henderson, NC 27536, in memory of Vivian Mann Edwards, Mrs, Edwards was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, who faithfully served her church and community, throughout her entire life.
