He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County, a deacon of the Clinchco Freewill Baptist Church, member of UMWA, a veteran of WWII, was a recipient of medals; American Area; European African Area & 1 star victory WWII. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marie McCarty, parents Flora and Lloyd McCarty, two grandsons, Anthony Craig Gibson and Parker Ryan Gibson, sister June Bailey.
He is survived by his children:

Raymond Jr. (Vada) McCarty.
Jane (Bryan) Hollis.
Pat (Subby) Holbrook.
Jack (Ninkey) McCarty.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 6:00pm In the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel followed with a song service at 7:00pm.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday December 16, 2010 at 1:00pm with Leon Sykes, Joe Glenn Sluss officiating burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Cemetery where a military service will be conducted by the Dickenson County and Big Stone Gap honors team.
