Services for James Walter Brumley, Jr., 67, of Houston were held at the Hamilton Street Church of Christ.
He attended high school at Jean, Texas.
A veteran of the US Army entering in 1941, he served in World War II. He trained in Brownwood, Tex. Served in Africa and Italy. Awarded EAME, 5 Battle Stars, Purple Heart and 3 OLC. Wounded 3 times in Italy, 1943. Brumley received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heaert.
He and Lida Young were married in Graham, Texas.
Brumley moved to Houston in 1980 from Olney. He had moved back to Olney in 1970. He was a retired farmer and oil producer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survived by his wife; two sons - Eddie Brumley of Houston and Carl Brumley of California; four sisters - Celia Clayton and Adell Dodd, both of Jean; Verdia Tatum of El Paso and Adean Glover of Terrell; five grandchildren.
