Death claimed another Civil war Veteran and a lifelong resident 0f Bristol Charles Cole who died on Sunday evening January 4th in the Mercer Hospital Trenton. He was in his seventieth year and although his health had been somewhat impaired for the Past year. Yet his death was sudden, he having been critically ill only ten days.
He was a veteran of the Civil war having enlisted in Company B 91st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer
Infantry October 30, 1863. He was in fourteen battles and on June 22, l864 at the battle of Jerusalem Plank Road received a gunshot wound in the left thigh. After his release from the hospital he was transferred to Albany where he was attached to Company K Eleventh Veteran Reserve Corps and he was honorably discharged on June 27 1865. He was a member Of Captain H Clay Beatty Post No 73 GAR.
Mr. Cole for nearly forty years was in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. For about twenty-five years being an engineer on the New Jersey Division between Philadelphia. and New York; and for some time previous to his death was Pensioner or the Company. He was also a charter member of the American Hose, Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 of Bristol.
He was a regular attendant at the men's meetings 0n Sundays at the First Baptist church, having missed but five services in eight years
The funeral was held yesterday from his late home, 329 Walnut St.
