LaRussell - Victor Bailey Charles, 80, of the Red oak community west of Miller, died at 5:26 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a short illness.
Mr. Charles was born Feb. 5, 1914, near Red Oak. He was a farmer and lived all his life on the family farm near Red Oak.
He was a 25-year board member of the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service. He was a Methodist.
He married Dora Celinda Nelson on April 9, 1938, at Springfield. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Eddie Nelson Charles, and a daughter, Vickie Sue LeMasters, both of LaRussell; a sister Geneva Leyerly, of Hinkley, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, with the Rev. J.K. Wright and James Shrives officiating. Burial was in Red Oak Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Oak United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
