Brownsville - Mrs. Annie Launer, 64, of the El Jardin district, died at her home Wednesday night after an illness of five weeks. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Thursday.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Launer, and six children. Mrs. Rose Laird and Mrs. Gladys Carter of Hoyt, Kas., Mrs. Nellie Way, Celesta, Harry and George Launer of Brownsville.

Launer Funeral Is Set Sunday
Rites to Be Held Here At
Methodist Church

Brownsville – Final rites for
Mrs. Anna Launer, 64, long-time
resident of this section, will be held
at the Methodist church Sunday,
beginning at 3 p.m., with Rev. W.
H. Moore officiating.

The body of Mrs. Launer, who
died at the family home Wednesday
after an illness of five weeks, will
be at the Darling chapel until time
for the funeral services.

Active pallbearers have been named as
follows: Sam Bell, Gay Matthews, E. I.
Bretz, Alfred Martinal, Howard Lupton
and R. E. Green.

Honorary pallbearers include: John
Graham, George Easterly, August Miller,
Cleve Baucher, Louis Dennisville, Earl
Richards, J. M. McCarthy, L. A. Driver,
Fred Barton, Walter Boles, W. O.
Washington, Edward Louis, Dr. C. E.
Stevens and Wayne Gobble.

Mrs. Launer is survived by her husband,
Edward; four daughters, Rose Laird of
Kansas, Nellie Way of Brownsville, Mrs.
Gladys Carter of Kansas and Celesta of
Brownsville; one son, Harry of Brownsville;
a foster-son, George Louis Henne of
Brownsville; and four sisters, Kate
Hilgenfeld of Henrietta, Texas, Emma
Haesler of Kansas, Mary Fowble of Kansas
and Florence Ott of Colorado Springs,
Colorado.

Obituary - Mrs. Ed Launer

Anna Agnes Saaler, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Saaler was born June 6, 1874
in Valley Falls, Kansas, and passed away at
her home near Brownsville, Texas, March
15, 1939 at the age of 64 years, 9 months
and 9 days after an illness of five weeks.
In 1892 she was married to Edward Launer.
To this union was born four daughters and
one son: Rose Laird of Meriden, Kansas,
Nellie Way of Brownsville, Texas, Gladys
Carter of Hoyt, Kansas, Celesta Launer of
Brownsville, Harry Launer of Brownsville
and a foster son, George Henne Launer of
Brownsville, all of whom were present with
one sister, Mrs. Mary Fowble, of Valley Falls,
Kansas. She is survived by six grandchildren,
Norma and Billy Way and Lois Ann Launer
of Brownsville, Lucille Carter of Hoyt, Kansas,
Juanita and Carol Laird of Meriden, Kansas.
Four sisters also survive her: Kate Hilgenfeld,
Henrietta, Texas, Emma Haesler of Meriden,
Kansas, Mary Fowble of Valley Falls, Kansas,
and Florence Ott of Colorado Sprngs,
Colorado; one step-brother, E. E. Leu, and
one foster-brother, John Sennrich, both of
Valley Falls, Kansas.

She was converted and joined the Evangelical
Church near Valley Falls, Kansas at the age
of twelve, and on coming to Brownsville united
with the First Methodist Church. Christ and
His Church were always first in her life.
During her illness she asked to go to church
and when told she was not able she was
content. She bore her suffering with great
patience, and to her loved ones said, "Peace,
It is well." And thus she endured only waiting
for her Lord, to come and take her home
where there is no pain nor sorrow. She was a
very devoted wife and loving mother and will
be deeply missed, but our loss is her gain,
for she is free from all pain and with her
soul it is well.

Funeral services were held at the First
Methodist Church in Brownsville on Sunday,
March 19, at 3 p. m. and interment was at
the Buena Vista Cemetery.
