Raymond Lawrence Alexander, Jr., 78, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home in Platte City, MO.

Raymond was born February 21, 1932, in East Leavenworth, MO to Raymond L. Alexander, Sr. and Marie Jeanette (Mann).

Raymond was a lifelong resident of rural Platte County, and graduated from the Platte City High School. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict.

Raymond and Edna England were married on April 17, 1959, in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the United Church in Christ of Leavenworth, KS; served as road commissioner for the Farley Special Road District for over twenty five years; farmed for many years; was a great family man; and worked as a mechanic for TWA for seventeen years, retiring in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Edna, of the home; his sons, David Wayne Taylor (Diane) of Kansas City, MO, and Clyde Lee Alexander (Cheryl) of Conneaut, OH; his daughter Edith Marie Lawler (Dale) of Clinton, MO; his sisters, Rhea Seba (Don) of Atchison, KS, Rita Barr of Belton, MO, and Martha Horseman of Independence, MO; and his grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Logan Lawler, Adam Lawler, Kevin Taylor, Ashlee Alexander, and Joshua Alexander.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010; followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City. Interment with military honors will follow in the Platte City Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions be given to United Church in Christ of Leavenworth, KS, or, Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway, Suite 201, Kansas City, MO 64114.
