Mrs. E. Elmore Passed Away Friday - Resident 36 Years
Mrs. E. Elmore, a resident of Archer City for 36 years, died at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon following an illness of some four or five months. The end came at the family home in Archer City.
Mrs. Elmore was a native Texan, born December 19, 1872, in Angelina county. She moved to Archer City from Eastland county early in 1910, where she lived with her family throughout the balance of her life.
She was a member of the First Baptist church. She was held in high esteem by a host of friends in Archer City and surrounding territory.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3:30 from the auditorium of the First Baptist church with Rev. R.E. Bost, former pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Earl Allen, pastor. A large gathering of sympathizing friends were present to pay homage to the departed woman.
Burial was in the Archer City cemetery. Pallbearers were L.B. Baker, Joe Adams, W.E. Bailey, J.D. Powell, Coff C. Conner and Hubert Riddle.
Survivors are the aged husband and four sons, Gordon and Ira Elmore of Archer City, Dolphus Elmore of Kansas City, and Edgar Elmore. All were present at the funeral. Others include six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother.
