MRS. TOM HAYS DIED MONDAY, MAY 12
"Ada Elizabeth Hays was born in Morgan County, Mo., February 23, 1880 and departed this life May 12, 1930 at the age of 50 years, 2 months and 21 days.
She was married to Thomas A. Hays, April 5, 1905 and to this union three children were born, namely, Gilbert Benjamin, at home, Joseph Vincil, who died in infancy, and Izola Elizabeth, of the home. A nephew, Donald, has been in the home since he was four years of age.
She is survived by her father and step-mother; one brother, John Lehman; two sisters, Mrs. Lessie Ross of Stillwater, Okla., and Mrs. Alice Mohler of Guthrie, Okla., all of whom attended the funeral. Two brothers and sisters could not be present, namely, S. M. Lehman of Berkeley, Calif., A. P. Lehman of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Birdie Morris of Eustis, Fla. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Homer, and her mother who passed away just five years ago to the day. She united with the Christian church in the fall of 1905 and remained faithful until death.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon May 14 at the Fortuna Christian Church in the presence of one of the largest crowds ever assembled in Fortuna at a funeral. Burial was in Newkirk Cemetery."
