She married Ramy Wayne Grisham and had two daughters, Norma Sue, b. 10 Feb 1936, and Marilyn Rae, b. 30 Dec. 1937. In 1940 she and her family, including her mother moved to Los Angeles, CA. She divorced Ramy Grisham about 1943. Berniece continued living with her two daughters and her mother in Los Angeles.
She married Basil Guy Simmons on 28 July 1945 in Los Angeles, CA. She moved with her family to Lawndale, Los Angeles Co, CA in 1947.
Berniece accepted the Lord and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Lawndale, CA. in 1968.
She was a member of the Veterans of WW I Auxiliary of Gardena, CA and served as President.
Berniece had her mother living with her until she died in 1955. She cared for her the last year of her life as she was diabetic and bedridden after experiencing a broken hip and falling.
She and Basil moved to Hide Away Lake in Valley Center, San Diego Co, CA in 1970 and she lived there the rest of her life.
She was a member of Grandview Church in Valley Center, CA.
