JAMES LAFAYETTE SHELL was born on May 23, 1914 to George and Mabel Shell in the village of Amadore; Sanilac County, Michigan. Following his 1932 graduation from Croswell High School, he worked for the Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit and the J. & J. Sheet Metal Company in Warren, Michigan. On June 11, 1937 Jim married Miss Jean Wilson of rural Yale at the Methodist Church in Lexington, MI. During their nearly 63 years of marriage, Jim and Jean lived in Detroit, East Detroit, and Troy, Michigan and Glen Mills, PA. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children: Gareth (Helen) of Yale, Michigan; Ronald of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Patricia of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Jim is also survived by five grandchildren: James, Kimberly, and Larry Shell and Emily and Wilson Geaman. He was preceeded in death by three brothers: Arnold, Goy, and Earl Shell; a sister, Helen Carter, and one granddaughter, Sarah Ann Shell. Jim was laid to rest at Fremont Township Cemetery; Sanilac County, Michigan.
