L. F. Ballew, 71, Dies; Rites Set
Leonard Fred Ballew, 71, of 713 Columbia, died about 5:15pm Friday (August 16, 1968). Services will be conducted at the graveside at 10:30am Tuesday (August 20).
Officiating will be Don J. Lawson, minister of Amarillo Church of God. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park, with arrangements by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Hardy Carlisle, Cliff Keniston, R. C. Mangum, Guy Manges, Bud Womack, and Curtis Surley.
Mr. Ballew was born in Denton County May 10, 1897 and was married to Rena Eleanor Wood on July 30, 1942 at Hot Springs, New Mexico. He moved to Plainview from Clarendon in 1946. He was owner of L. F. Ballew Auto Parts of Plainview.
He was a member of the Amarillo Church of God, and a World War II veteran.
Mr. Ballew was preceeded in death by his parents, Leonard Ballew and Fannie Elizabeth Minton Ballew; two brothers, William Earl Ballew and Wilson W. Ballew; and former wives Lillie Marshall Ballew and Nona Dewey Chapman Ballew.
Surviving are his wife, Rena; a son, Hollis Wade Ballew of Portland, Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Louis Vigna of Amarillo; a sister, Mrs. Carl Gilliam of Lubbock; two brothers, E.S. Ballew and Donald Ballew, both of Clarendon; and six grandchildren.
