Jesse Ansley was born in Warren County, Georgia, the son of Abel Ansley and his wife, Lydia (Morris) Ansley. His exact date of death is unknown, but it definitely did not take place in 1865 as incorrectly reported in some sources. He was enumerated in the 1870 census, residing in Habersham County, Georgia and was last known to have been alive on 18 Mar 1871, when he signed a document of that date pertaining to his War of 1812 pension.
