Rites held for A.W. Grant

A.W. (Dink) Grant
Funeral services for A.W. (Dink) Grant, 38, of Route 1, Elkhart, were held Sunday, August 12, at 3:00 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel, Palestine with the Rev. Bill Sheffield and the Rev. Harold (Dub) Davis officiating. Burial was in the Guiceland Cemetery, Salmon. Active pallbearers were Wayne Callaway, Kenneth Calloway, Bobby Grant, Bobby Shipper, Roy Lee Moore, Charlie Davis, Milton Herod, and Billy Tucker.
All other friends of the family were designated honorary pallbearers. Mr. Grant was born September 5, 1934 in Anderson County to Reuben Grant and Mrs. Mabel Shipper Grant, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at a Palestine hospital Friday, August 10, 1973 at 1:05 a.m.
following injuries received in an automobile accident.
Lifelong resident of the Elkhart area, he was a member of the Walston Springs Baptist Church, and was a self-employed brickmason.
Survivors; wife Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Wells Grant, Elkhart; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Grant of Elkhart; a son, Steven W. Grant, Elkhart; two daughters, Misses Linda Kay Grant, and Donna Lynn Grant, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Billy M. Grant of Palestine, and Kenneth L. Grant of Elkhart; a sister Mrs. W.B. (Loyce) Barnett of Elkhart, several nieces and nephews.
