Roxy Gordon (Mar. 7, 1945 - Feb. 7, 2000) was a Choctaw and Assiniboine poet, novelist, musician and activist. He lived in Talpa, TX, and had a following in England. In the 1970s, he ran a country music magazine, Picking up the Tempo, in Albuquerque, NM. His first CD was titled Smaller Circles. He ran a small publishing company called Wowapi.
Died near Talpa, Coleman County, Texas. He was a 1963 graduate of Talpa Cententennial High School, graduated with honors and then attended the University of Texas where he was the associate editor of the Riata, A UT publication. Survivors include his wife, Judy N. Gordon of Talpa, Texas, and his mother, Louise E. Gordon of Coleman. Other survivors include his adopted Assiniboine parents, John and Minerva Allen, and two sons and one daughter-in law, J.C. and Corinne Gordon of Dallas and Quanah Parker Gordon of Talpa. Roxy also had a twin brother that died at birth. At the time of his death, J.C.'s wife Binky was expecting Roxy Gordon's first grandchild.
