Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 1, 1961:

John L., son of Abraham and Margaret Isaac, was born February 25, 1877, on a farm near Kleefeld, Manitoba. He departed this life on December 17, 1960. He reached the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 22 days.
He grew to manhood in the Kleefeld community. When he was 19 years old he began teaching school. He enjoyed this work and was engaged by different schools in this area. During the years he taught school a desire arose in his heart to have a farm of his own and be more permanently established. In the summer of 1901 he, and his brother Abe, went into the Province of Saskatchewan and each claimed a homestead. In this new country he experienced the hardships of a pioneer. His great courage and fortitude helped him to overcome many obstacles and in the end this venture into new and unknown territory proved a success.
In 1908 he became troubled in his soul. His testimony is that he became restless, weary, and heavy laden. He, however, temporarily closed his heart to God's tender call until the Spring of 1910. He repented of his sins and was forgiven and justified through his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He remained faithful to his vows until his death.
Early in 1911 he came to Kansas. On March 20, 1911, he was married to Carrie Schmidt of Galva, Kansas. Our Father and Mother shared the joys and sorrows of life for nearly 50 years. One daughter and 3 sons were born to this union. After their marriage our parents lived in Saskatchewan. In 1924 the family moved to a farm 7 miles south of Ingalls, Kansas. In 1948 Father retired from farming, and he and Mother moved into Montezuma, Kansas.
Our Father enjoyed good health until he suffered a stroke on January 18, 1958. His recovery from this attack was complete enough to enable him to live a normal life until the 27th of November of this year, when he again became ill and entered Trinity Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas. Medical aid was administered with some apparent good results, which however proved to be temporary. His condition gradually declined until he quietly and peacefully fell asleep last Saturday afternoon.
Today we mourn the passing of our father. We remember his many expressions of love and concern for his family and others. He always sought our welfare, both materially and spiritually; teaching us to live honestly and conservatively. He often expressed his desire to have the family circle complete in Heaven. We have the assurance that our father is, "safe in the arms of Jesus."
Those who mourn his departure are: his wife, Carrie, Montezuma; 4 children: Edna, (Mrs. Ruben Schmidt) Montezuma; Paul, Davisboro, Ga.; Menno, Ingalls, Kansas; and Allen, Montezuma; 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, also 1 sister, Marie, and 3 brothers, Abraham, Frank, and Dave, all of Kleefeld, Manitoba. Many other relatives and friends. Three sisters and 1 brother preceded him in death.

The last mile of the way I have traveled,
The last day of my life I have spent;
I've gone to a place where awaiting
The beauties of Heaven content.
Your homes I will never more enter,
My loved ones, I've left you behind;
I've crossed death's darkening valley
To an Eternal Home on high.
I'm looking your way my loved ones,
I trust when the roll's called above,
Not one of you there will be, missing,
To live in the realms of love.
