Our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Frank L. Isaac, was born to Abraham and Margaretha Isaac at Gruenfeld, Manitoba, on May 16, 1893. He departed this life in the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Manitoba on August 28,1979, reaching the age of 86 years, 3 months and 12 days.
He was married to Elizabeth Penner on October 4, 1918, who deceased March 29, 1979, having lived together, sharing this life for over sixty years.
Father responded to the Saviour's call. Upon the confession of his faith he was baptized, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on March 15, 1931. Going through various trials, temptations, and a reconsecration in the last years, God had delivered him after much physical suffering.
He farmed from March, 1919, at Hochstadt till his retirement. When Mother became too feeble, they moved to the Greenland Home in September of 1972. His stay was terminated by the June, 1978, tornado, when he moved in with his daughter, Emily and Winston Wohlgemuth.
Father was in reasonable health till the summer of 1978, when gangrene affected one foot, caused by hardening of the arteries. On April 4, 1979, his foot was amputated. Rallying for a short while following surgery, he spoke a few words, thanking God for a clear mind. He lapsed into a coma, suffering several strokes in which condition he remained until his passing five months later.
We, the family, are thankful that God so graciously relieved him from suffering, leaving the assurance that he now is with his Saviour.
He leaves to remember him: Victor and Erna Isaac of Roblin, Manitoba; Eleanor Isaac of Cromer, Manitoba; Otto and Edna Isaac of Fort Vermilion, Alberta; Emily and Winston Wohlgemuth of Steinbach, Manitoba; Ted and Marina Isaac of Kleefeld, Manitoba; Hilda and Clifford Giesbrecht of Mt. Lehman, British Columbia; John and Laura Isaac of Roblin, Manitoba; thirty-eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.
His wife Elizabeth; one son, Abe in 1970; and one grandson, Donaly in 1968, predeceased him. His family preceded him except one brother-in-law, Jacob and Anna Bartel; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Isaac; two sisters-in-law from Mother's side, Mrs. Anna Thiessen and Mrs. Lottie Penner.
Funeral services were held August 31, 1979, at the Kleefeld Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Ministers Donald Toews, Herb Barkman, Alva Froese, and Linden Wohlgemuth were in charge of the services.
