Killed with 21 of men by Indians during the first siege of Ft. Henry.

Capt Wm Foreman. After the indian massacre he and his men were buried in a mass grave. At a later date he was re-interred in Mt Rose Cemetery.Capt. William Foreman was originally from around Springfield in Hampshire Co., Virginia (now WV). He married first, Hannah DuBoise [1728-1760]about 1746. They had nine children. He married second, Catherine Parker [1735-1783], about 1761, d/o John Parker and Elizabeth Unknown. They had twelve children. Capt. William Foreman was buried in a mass grave along with his sons, Hamilton and Nathan at the Narrows originally. Their remains were later taken up and moved to a cemetery in Moundsville, W.Va. He and his sons were killed in an Indian ambush in the defense of of Ft. Patrick Henry at Wheeling.Killed by indians in the Indian war. John and 21 of his company were buried at the Narrows on the Ohio River, 4 miles north of Glendale. WV. and 7 miles north of Moundsville, WV.
In 1835 a memorial stone marking the place of their common burial was placed there. In 1875, monument was moved to Mount Rose Cemetery.

"This monument was originally erected above the Narrows on the Ohio River four miles above Moundsville, on the ground where the fatal action occurred, And with the remains of Capt. Foreman and his fallen men placed here June the 1st 1875, by Capt. P. B. Catlett under orders of the county court of Marshall County."
