At the age of fourteen he settled near Nobelsville, Hamilton County, Indiana. On June 3, 1841, he was united in marriage to Sarah Miller in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. In 1849 they migrated to Wisconsin: from whence, in 1859, they settled on the banks of the Blue River, Marshall County, Kansas. He and Sarah had born to them, nursed, schooled and reared ten (some sources report more) children. They lived to see all of them married.

Names of known children: Mary Ann Scott Fulton, Henry Scott, William Andrew Scott, Nancy Scott Maher, Sarah Scott Stout, James Scott, John Scott, Samuel Scott, Eliza Scott Ervin, Jane Scott Hunt, Charles Scott, Joseph Scott.

Andy was a hunter, trapper and fisherman. Andy's other talent was with the "Fiddle and Bow" and his talent was very much sought after in those days. Mr. Scott must of had an innate taste for music as the most or all his sons play the fiddle as does one of his daughters.
Andrew passed away from pneumonia while visiting friends and family in Iowa.
