SACRED To the memory of CAPT JAMES H. BROCKMAN
He was Born 19TH July, 1822 and died 15 September 1844
Although snatched away by an all wise Providence
in the bloom of youth and vigor of manhood, he still lives in the memory of his friends. He had strong hopes of meeting his Savior in peace beyond the grave. Plain in his native dignity of mind. We raise the tomb of him we have resigned. Unflawed and stainless be the marble scroll emblem of manly form and candid soul. But oh, what symbol may avail to tell the kindness worth and sense we loved so well. Yet taught by thy meek sufference to assume patience in anguish hope beyond the tomb. Resigned though sad, this vatic verse shall flow and brief alas, as thy brief span blow. W T White
