He was a man of strong and exemplary mind of excellent judgement of correct foresight possessed of superior business qualifications and fitted for general and extensive usefullness. He was a ________and scrupuliously faithful husband and affection yet discreet father, training his children with great care and governed them with much wisdom and prudence, as a neighbor he was held in universal esteem.

He was honored with the liberal and unwavering confidence of his fellow citizens representing them in both branches of the legislature of South Caroolina sucessively for more than a quarter of a century in the capacity he wielded a commanding influence and worked with the first business men in the state

As a Christian he was a man of deep piety without ostentation in outward show, he was meek and lowly adoring the domain of God, his Savior with an orderly walk and godly conversation. He filled the office of a Deacon well for many years in the Baptist church at clear Springs and therby purchased to himself a good degree and great boldness in the faith.
