William Brownback was a very successful farmer in Chester Co., PA. He first married Eliza Wilson abt. 1830 and they had four sons and one daughter; Mary, John, James, Wilson, and Lewis Brownback. The last two sons died young. After William Brownback's first wife Eliza died, he married Frances Burgoin about 1842. They had 3 sons and one daughter; Levi, Orlando, Henry, and Galena. Henry and Galena died young. After William Brownback died, Frances Burgoin Brownback left to live with her son Dr. Orlando Brownback and his family in Indiana.
