John F. Elmendorf was born in Rennselear Co. N.Y. , the son of Jonathan Elmendorf and Margaret Felton. He lived in Erie Co. NY until the 1850s' when he and the family moved to Hebron Township, Jefferson Co. Wi. In the 1870s' he and other family members moved to Kickapoo Twp. Vernon Co.
John had served in the War of 1812. While his exact burial place is not known, Manning is where his son and a daughter lived. John was married to Elizabeth Youmans/Umans who died in Erie Co. NY before 1850. Her burial place is unknown.
John and Elizabeth were a pair of my 3 gr. grandparents.
