She was born October 20, 1920 in Hartford, the daughter of the late David and Rose Sasportas and lived in the area all her life.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and later was employed for more than 30 years with The Allen Manufacturing Company.
Welcome was an avid UCONN Husky basketball fan and also a fan of U.S. Women's Soccer. She loved bowling, cooking, photography, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She was an extraordinary woman, beautiful and radiant. She will be remembered for her tenacious love of life and her generous spirit. She was a member of the East Hartford and Wethersfield Seniors.
She will be sadly missed by her devoted family, sons, Anthony DiCicco and his wife, Diane and Robert DiCicco and his wife, Judith all of Wethersfield; daughters, Lorraine Wilcox and her husband, John of Old Lyme and Joan Pacheco and her husband, George of Raynham, MA; grandchildren, David and Brian Wilcox, Dawn Bailey and her husband, Paul, Anthony, Andrew, Alex and Nicholas DiCicco, Michael DiCicco and his wife, Sara, Julie DiCicco and her fiancé Scott Rogers, Kevin and Kim Welcome Pacheco and a great granddaughter, Michaela Adeline DiCicco. She is also survived by her brother, Max Sasportas, many nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Nancy Johnston. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ann; her brothers Abraham, Benjamin and her sister Regina Lazerow.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield.
The burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Hartford.
Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel.
