Funeral services for James Pryde Kelley, 72, of Reliance, were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Gordon Blunt officiating.

Burial was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Kelley died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County where he had been a patient since Nov. 14.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Steven, Albert and Kenneth Harris; his son, Hugh S. Kelley and his sons-in-law, Richard W. Harris and Halsey W. Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Bozner Sr., William Gibbs, James Stark, Vester O. Bridgewater, Mario Temperini, Bob King, Frank Robertson, Henry Likwartz, Robert Ghormley, John Gallagher, Ted Coel Sr., George C. Harris and Chauncey Clark.

He was born Sept. 24, 1907 at Cowdenbeath, Scotland, the son of the late Hugh McIntyre and Margaret Pryde Kelley. He came to the United States with his parents when he was 17 months old. He attended school in Rock Springs. He was married to the former Burchal I. Spencer in Rock Springs on March 2, 1929.

Mr. Kelley had formerly resided in Rock Springs, Lionkol and Dines and resided in Reliance since 1921.

Mr. Kelley retried as a meat cutter for the Union Pacific Coal Company Store in Reliance when in closed in 1954. He went to work for a short time at FMC and Union Pacific Railroad, he then was employed by Pacific Power and Light and worked for them for 16 years until his retirement. He also served as Deputy Sheriff for Sweetwater County in Reliance for 16 years.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 104 and the Grand Chapter of the Moose Lodge A6985 of Mooseheart, Ill. for many years. He served as a Scout Leader and took troops to the World Wide Jamboree in Santa Ana, Calif. and Alaska.

Survivors include his wife, Buchal I. Kelley of Reliance; a son, Hugh Spencer Kelley of Rock Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Richard W. (Patricia Ann) Harris of Reliance and Mrs. Halsey W. (Margaret Alma) Taylor of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Agnes Kelley of Rock Springs and Mrs. Helen Roberts of Cokeville; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James McIntyre Kelley who died in 1969, a brother, John and two sisters, Mary Sellers and Margaret Presley.
