Memorial services for Miles A. Brown, "Brownie", 77, who died Friday, November 20, 1981 in Sutherland, Nebraska were held Tuesday, November 24 at Bethesda Care Center in Sutherland.

He was born August 4, 1904 at Devils Lake, North Dakota. [Editor: William Peel contributed the following: Miles was one of three sons born to George W. and Adelina (Zessin) Brown and the brother of six siblings, Clarence, Phoebe (Markley), Myrtle (Stock), Ida (Racobs) Clara (Anderson) and Andrew Brown. In 1908, Miles, at the age of four, was stricken with polio. As there was no confirmed method of treatment, Adelina used hot baths, oil massage and exercise. Miles was left crippled in his left leg.] He owned and operated Browns Shoe Repair Shop in Lewellen from 1930 to 1958. He was later employed at Don's Shoe Repair in North Platte from 1960 to 1969.

Survivors include three children, Joan Garrison of Applegate, Oregon; Harold Brown of Wahiawa, Hawaii and Shirley Gillespie of Dalton, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
