MILDRED C. CROOKS Funeral services for Mildred C. Crooks, 96, of Trout, La. will be held at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers in Jena on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Revs. Rick Feazell and Randy Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the Jena Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena, LA. Mrs. Crooks was born November 9, 1915 to the union of her parents, Charlie B "Pop" and Annie Lou Pace Cole and passed from this life on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at LaSalle Nursing Home in Jena, La. Mrs. Crooks was a retired elementary school teacher of 27 years and the oldest member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Margaret Jones and husband Charlie "Buck" Jones, Sr. of Trout and sons, Charles Wesley Crooks and wife Francille of Mesquite, TX. and Clyde Crooks of Trout; grandchildren, Allen Jones and wife Lenora, Anita Stuckey and husband Donald, Theresa Crooks, Michelle Kirbie and husband Danny, Wesley Crooks and wife Lisa, Sarah Clancy and husband Jamie and John Crooks and wife Melissa; seventeen great grandchildren, twelve great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Helen Dee Cole and numerous neices and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband of fifty years, Elbie Crooks, daughter-in-law, Susan Crooks, three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Allen Jones, Jr., John Crooks, Wesley Crooks, Nathan Kirbie, Donald Stuckey and Cole LeGrande. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Clancy, James Kirbie, Danny Kirbie, Sr., Danny Kirbie, Jr., Chad LeGrande, Ron Randall and Lonnie Edwards.
