Seville - A. "Smiley" Baker Jr., constable of this district, and popular local citizen, died early Thursday morning in Orlando, succumbing to pneumonia which set in as the aftermath of an operation. He was 37 and had been in failing health for several weeks.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ola Baker; his mother, Mrs. Nellie C. Baker; one sister, Mrs. Winifred Robinson, and three brothers, Frank and Albert Baker, and George Baker of Monahan, Texas. All the survivors except the brother in Texas live at Seville.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Seville Baptist Church. Burial was made in the cemetery there. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 14 Feb 1941.)
