Annette Foster Gipson, 68
She was born in Poteet on June 30, 1940, to Lamar and Elizabeth Billingsley Foster. Annette was raised in Pleasanton, where she was valedictorian of her high school graduating class of 1957. After high school, Annette graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in education.

While at Abilene Christian, Annette met and married Robert Malone Gipson of Odessa. After graduating, they moved to Austin so that Robert could pursue further education at the University of Texas at Austin. Annette went to work with the Austin Independent School District, where she taught science at Porter Junior High School.

After four years of teaching, Annette retired to raise her two sons, Michael and Paul. While living in Westlake Hills, she was active in the PTA and numerous garden, musical, and bridge clubs. An avid reader, she was a big supporter of the Austin Public Library.

In 1988, Annette and Robert moved to Port Arthur. Again, she was active in many social and civic clubs. She also volunteered her time as a docent for the McFaddin-Ward House in Beaumont.

After a brief stay in Houston, Annette and Robert retired in Floresville. During her retirement years, Annette stayed active with the local Tuesday Musical Club and played bridge weekly.

Annette truly loved living in Floresville and hosting family get-togethers for every holiday and celebration. A warm, loving grandmother, she will be missed by her five grandchildren.

Her husband of 47 years, Robert Malone Gipson; her son, Paul Bradley Gipson; her mother, Elizabeth Billingsley Foster; and her sister, Sue Dietrich, preceded her in death.

Annette is survived by her father, Lamar Foster of Pleasanton; her brothers, Carson Foster of Pleasanton, and Kevin Foster and wife Charlotte of Floresville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Adana, and their sons, David and Paul; her daughter-in-law, Karen, and her three children, Christina, Jeffrey, and Jennifer.
