Nora worked at the State Mental Hospital and had compassion for her patients. She did little things to humor them, such as making bread pills and rolling them in sugar so she could give them something for many of their imagined aches and pains. It always cured them. On the 14th of December 1903, Nora quit her job and married John Thomas Aston, her long-time sweetheart. She was a wonderful homemaker; we never heard her complain or wish for things she didn't have. Dad was a hard worker and mother would lighten his load by having all the outdoor chores done when he came home. On long winter evenings we popped corn, made candy and always had apples. We usually had black walnuts to crack and pick out too. Wherever Nora went she was always the life of the party. At one ward gathering in the canyon, Nora disappeared and everyone wondered where she was, but they didn't have to wonder long. In her wanderings she had run on to a donkey and when we saw her coming she was astride its back meandering down the road. Nora was high strung and always worked way beyond her endurance. She was always visiting the sick and homebound, taking food, doing their housework or just giving wise counsel or advice. She was a friend to everyone and they all loved her.
