Richard was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Dallas to Alma and Warren Albin. He enlisted in the Navy on Oct. 24, 1942, and was discharged on Aug. 16, 1946. He was recalled to the Korean War on April 28, 1951, until Aug. 16, 1952. During World War II, Richard served in the armed guard out of Treasure Island, Calif., aboard the Cushman K. Davis, May through November 1943, the SSJ Maurice Thompson, part of 1943, 1944 and 1945, the SS Sea Shark, part of 1945. He detached from the armed guard and served with the "amphibs" aboard the USS LCI 352 until being discharged on Aug. 16, 1946. After the war, Richard was employed by General Dynamics for two years and the U.S. Postal Service from April 28, 1948, until his retirement on Aug. 29, 1980. Richard married Emma Deniske Handke on Jan. 20, 1945.
He was preceded in death by a son, Henry Clay, in 2000; and sisters, Jeannie Gates and Martha Parker.
Survivors: Wife, Emma Deniske Albin; son, Richard Wayne Albin and wife, Cynthia; daughter, Wynn Rae Stoots and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Andrew Ryan, Jamie Leah and Andrea Denise; daughter-in-law, Toni Albin; brothers, Warren D. Albin, Jr. and wife, Madge, Milton Albin and Donald E. Albin and wife, Kay; sister, Mildred Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
