Salt Lake City, Utah-Mildred (Millie) Albin Parker born, Feb. 4, 1923 to Warren & Alma Albin in Dallas, TX. Millie passed away peacefully on April 24, 2015.
Millie and husband, Doug, were charter members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Ogden and also attended Community Church in Bountiful.
Millie moved from Texas to Utah as a bride during WWII. After retirement, she and Doug spent their winters in San Diego, CA. The last years of her life were spent at Sun River in St. George, UT.
For 29 years, Millie loved going to work every day at Mountain Fuel (Questar Gas). She spent 21 years at the Ogden office and 8 in Salt Lake. After her daughter had polio in 1948, she spent many years working for the March of Dimes and was the first chairman of the Mothers' March in Ogden. Other organizations she was active in were: Eastern Star; Credit Women International, and Federation of Women Club. In addition to being an avid bridge player, Millie loved to swim. She spent 20 years swimming at the Bountiful pool; typically swimming five days a week. In the Huntsman Senior Games, she won several gold and silver medals. Millie also loved to fish with her family. In her later years, she loved sitting at her favorite "machine" at the Eureka Casino in Mesquite.
Millie was preceded in death after 57 years of marriage by husband F. Douglas Parker, and by grandson Derek Gregory Starbuck. Survived by son Douglas Lane Parker; daughter Donna Lynn Parker; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A tribute to her life will be held Friday, May 1st from 6-8 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E., SLC. There will be a graveside service at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W. in Bountiful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Ogden, 140 N. Tyler Ave., Ogden, UT 84404. Online condolences may be offered at www.starksfuneral.com.
